Consultation on draft changes to fees 2023

We are proposing a 7.5% increase in all the fees we charge for pharmacist and pharmacy technician registration, pharmacy premises registration, and the foundation training year.

The proposals consider a 7.5% increase in all fees for pharmacies, pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and foundation trainees, including those for registration and renewal, from April 2024. This means that:

  • the pharmacist renewal fee would increase by £19 from £257 to £276
  • the pharmacy technician renewal fee would increase by £9 from £121 to £130
  • the pharmacy premises renewal fee would increase by £27 from £365 to £392

You can see a full list of the proposed fee changes in the consultation document below. We sought views on:

  • our approach to increasing fees equally across all registrant groups in 2024, to cover increases in our operational costs
  • the impact of our proposal to increase fees by 7.5% on pharmacy staff, pharmacy owners, foundation trainee pharmacists, patients and members of the public, and individuals or groups sharing any of the protected characteristics

We welcomed feedback from individuals and organisations to help us test our overall approach to fee setting, as well as the specific proposals.
